Dear Readers who have not abandoned me in my absence, I hope you are as happy as I am that it’s finally gardening and grilling season. Summer is in full swing, and I am so excited for all of the fresh berries, crunchy veggies, and juicy tomatoes, not to mention all of the outdoor eating! Picnics, cookouts, bars with patios…and my roommate and I are lucky enough to have our very own yard, with our very own garden, and our very own charcoal grill. hurricanes and farmer’s markets

As everyone knows by now, there was a well-hyped weather formation resembling a hurricane that passed near Brooklyn last night and this morning. We got a little rain, a little wind, and a great excuse to sit at home eating Luigi’s pizza and drinking PBR on a Saturday night. Like the good former Girl Scout I am, I prepared much more than I needed to though, and now have enough batteries to last the next ten years. That, and a hefty supply of nuts, canned goods, and bottled water.Better to be prepared than to end up sitting in the dark hungry! Continue reading
